Iolani School Wins Big at National Science Olympiad

 

On Saturday, May 19th ‘Iolani School participated in the 28th Annual National Science Olympiad Tournament at the University of Central Florida.  This was the second appearance at the prestigious tournament for ‘Iolani's High School team and the first appearance for its middle school team.

Overall, the 'Iolani Middle School team placed 29th out of 60 in the Middle School Division.

The events placed in the top 20 are:

Water Quality: Julia Kawano (’15) and EnZe Ma (’15) placed 5th in the nation and received medals.
Dynamic Planet: placed 8th
Optics: placed 13th
Microbe Mission: placed 14th
Compute This: placed 17th
Disease Detectives: placed 18th
Mission Possible:  placed 19th
Towers:  placed 19th

 

Overall, the 'Iolani High School team placed 42nd out of 60 in the High School Division.

The events placed in the top 20 are:

Elastic Launch Glider: placed 20th
MagLev: placed 14th
Astronomy: placed 8th
Fermi Questions: placed 13th
Microbe Mission: placed 14th
