Elementary Science Olympiad (ESO) is open to all public, private, charter, and home schools in Hawaii as well as groups that involve students in grades 3 – 6 (i.e Cub/Girl/Boy Scouts and after school programs).  Since some Hawaii Elementary schools only go to 5th grade while others include 6th grade, we allow up to seven (7) 6th grade students on a team as long as those students were not also on a Division B team.

Schools MUST register to be eligible to compete in any of the events! There will be no registration fee for teams this year. Each school/organization will be allowed to register up to two teams.

If you would still to inquire about participating or other inquiries regarding tournament details and logistics (including event offerings, schedule, etc), please contact the tournament director at

2022-2023 Season Information

Hawaii ESO Director: Kathy Lin
ESO Tournament Director: Dylan Sodetani

The Hawaii Elementary Science Olympiad tournament will be an in-person tournament hosted by Highlands Intermediate School on Saturday, March 4, 2023, from 7:30 am - 12:00 pm.

The ESO directors are hosting a Coaches Clinic that has been postponed to a later date - ESO directors will be contacting registered teams regarding the clinic date. This is a chance for both new and experienced ESO coaches to learn more about the events, how to prepare, and have their questions answered directly by the event supervisors.
